Shuswap Pondless Waterfall | British Columbia

Completed in 2025, this 50-foot pondless waterfall was designed as the centerpiece of an outdoor living space, flowing alongside a lap pool and artificial putting green.

The project presented a unique design challenge. Unlike the rounded, weathered stone often used in naturalistic water features, this waterfall was constructed using locally sourced Shuswap Blue boulders, a fractured stone with sharp edges and angular faces created through blasting and quarrying.

Learning the character of the stone was an important part of the process. Each rock type has its own personality, and creating a natural appearance required understanding how the stone wanted to be arranged within the landscape. Through careful placement, layering, and attention to geological patterns, the angular material was transformed into a waterfall that feels both dramatic and natural.

The result is a contemporary pondless water feature that complements the surrounding architecture while maintaining the timeless qualities found in nature.
