BC Home + Garden Show Display Garden | British Columbia

Created for the BC Home + Garden Show in 2010, this Japanese-inspired garden was designed and constructed within an ambitious three-day build schedule inside the exhibition venue.

The display combined natural stone, flowing water, traditional Japanese design elements, and carefully selected plant material to create a tranquil garden environment amidst the energy of the trade show floor. A custom pond, waterfall, bamboo screening, and handcrafted cedar structures worked together to transport visitors into a completely different setting, demonstrating how water can transform a space regardless of its surroundings.

With limited construction time available, large boulders were placed using our crane truck, allowing the stonework to be installed efficiently while maintaining the natural appearance that defines our work. Every element had to be carefully planned before construction began, balancing logistics, craftsmanship, and design under tight deadlines.

This project was one of several display gardens we designed and built for home and garden shows throughout the early 2000s, providing an opportunity to showcase naturalistic water feature design to thousands of visitors each year.

Despite its temporary nature, the garden demonstrated many of the principles that continue to guide our work today: thoughtful stone placement, natural water movement, and creating environments that invite people to slow down, observe, and connect with nature.
